Live Speed in Notification, Improved VoLTE, Wi-Fi Reports, IPv6 Diagnostics, 5G SA Filters & Mast Names Upgrades

By the CellInfo Dev Team | Published: 1st July 2026

πŸ“Ά IMPROVED: More Reliable VoLTE Detection

VoLTE (Voice over LTE) support detection has always been tricky because many devices report it inconsistently.

  • Multi-Layer Fallback: The Cell Info screen now uses a layered detection approach. If the standard method fails β€” which is common on many devices β€” the app checks the IMS network capability as a fallback to confirm VoLTE is active. This prevents false “Not Supported” readings on phones where VoLTE is clearly working fine.

πŸ”” NEW: Live Speed in the Notification

Your pull-down notification can now show live download and upload speeds alongside your signal information β€” no need to open the app.

  • Enable in Settings: Turn it on under Notification Settings. It adds to the existing CellInfo notification rather than creating a new one.
  • Your Choice of Units: Display speeds in bits/sec (Mbps/Kbps) or bytes/sec β€” whichever you prefer.
  • Choose Your Connection: Track the active connection, mobile data only, or Wi-Fi only β€” useful on dual-connection devices where you want to see just one.

πŸ“„ NEW: Wi-Fi Diagnostics Report Export

The WiFi tab can now produce a standalone report you can share or keep for your records.

  • PDF or Text: Export a full Wi-Fi diagnostics report in either PDF or plain-text format, including connection details, nearby network scan, channel congestion map, WiFi Calling status, and Wi-Fi/Cellular handover history.

🌐 IMPROVED: IPv6 Diagnostics

The Diagnostics screen now gives you a full picture of how your device connects over both IPv4 and IPv6.

  • IPv6 Ping Targets: Ping tests now include dedicated IPv6 endpoints β€” OpenDNS IPv6, Cloudflare IPv6, Google DNS IPv6, and Quad9 IPv6 β€” shown alongside their friendly names rather than raw addresses.
  • Separate IPv4 & IPv6 DNS Results: When your active connection has IPv6 available, DNS results now show separate rows for IPv4 and IPv6 so you can see exactly which stack resolved successfully.
  • IPv6 Port Tests: Port connectivity checks now include IPv6 targets, giving you a complete view of whether your connection is fully dual-stack.
  • Cleaner Export Layout: Text and PDF exports now match the on-screen layout β€” site name first, IP address below it, then the latency or open/blocked result. IPv6 addresses in exports now show correctly with their friendly name instead of just a raw address likeΒ 2620:....

πŸ“‘ IMPROVED: 5G SA Event Filters

The filter controls on the 5G SA Events view have been refreshed to be clearer and easier to use.

  • Clearer Filter Labels: Band and signal quality filters now include options for Poor RSRP and Best SINR, giving you finer control over what you see.
  • Stronger Selected-State Borders: Active filter buttons now have more prominent borders, so it’s always obvious which filters are on β€” especially in custom and OLED themes.
  • Better Empty-State Messaging: When your active filters return no results, the app now explains that there are no matches for the selected filters, rather than leaving you wondering if there’s simply no data at all.

🏷️ IMPROVED: Mast Names β€” Richer Tower Details

Mast Names now captures and displays significantly more detail about every tower it logs, making it much easier to identify, search, and act on your saved towers.

  • Cell ID & PCI now stored and displayed: Each tower entry now shows the full observed Cell ID (the raw CI for LTE or NCI for 5G SA) alongside the Physical Cell ID, both in the list view and on the detail screen. No more guessing which sector you were on.
  • TAC / LAC tracking: The tracking area codes seen on each tower are recorded over time. On the detail screen you can see every TAC observed β€” useful for understanding coverage boundaries and catching towers that serve multiple tracking areas.
  • Smarter search: The search bar now understands Cell IDs and NCIs. Paste in a full 36-bit NCI or an LTE Cell ID and Mast Names will work backwards through the bit-split to find the matching tower in your list β€” even if you only have a partial value.
  • Group by Carrier or Network Type: A new grouping control lets you organise your tower list by carrier name or network type (5G SA, 4G LTE, etc.), with collapsible sections and a tower count per group. Flat view is still the default.
  • Copy to Search tabΒ (Beta testers & supporters β€” coming soon to all): If a saved tower has no online database entry, a button on the detail screen copies the tower’s MCC, MNC, TAC, and Cell ID directly into the Search tab and navigates you there β€” no typing required.
  • Stronger filter chip borders: The radius filter chips now show a more prominent border when selected, consistent with the same improvement made to the 5G SA Events filters in this release.

πŸ§ͺ NEW: Lab Mode Early Access

Lab Mode is a dedicated workspace for engineers and enthusiasts running their own private 5G SA or LTE networks. It goes well beyond what a typical signal app offers β€” this is for people who have an Open5GS core, an OpenSIPS/IMS stack, a CBRS deployment, or any private LTE/5G rig and want to verify their device has actually attached to it correctly.

  • Quick-Start Profiles: Choose from Open5GS, OpenSIPS/IMS, Private 5G SA, Private LTE, or Manual. Selecting a profile pre-fills the expected PLMN and network type so you can get started without typing everything from scratch.
  • Expected vs Observed Checks: Enter what your networkΒ shouldΒ be broadcasting β€” PLMN, band, PCI, TAC, ARFCN, Cell ID/NCI, and gNB/eNB node ID β€” and the app compares each one against what your device is actually seeing, live. Pass, warn, or missing at a glance.
  • Private Network Detection: A top-level banner tells you immediately whether the device looks like it has attached to a private or lab network, based on PLMN heuristics (MCC 001/999, known private ranges) and network name matching.
  • IMS & VoLTE Verification: A dedicated IMS panel shows whether the IMS stack is visible to the device, with live readouts for VoLTE, VoWiFi, and VoNR registration state. Useful when testing a private IMS core to confirm the device has actually registered its voice services.
  • Raw Diagnostic Dump: A collapsible raw view exposes the full parsed ServiceState, per-domain registration paths (CS/PS over WWAN/WLAN), active network capabilities, IMS APN attachment, and 5G indicators (EN-DC, NR availability, NR restricted). Share it as plain text directly from the screen.
  • Session Reports: Export a complete session summary as PDF or plain text β€” profile used, all expected values, all observed values, and every check result with a timestamp. Useful for lab documentation or sharing results with your team.
  • Save & Load Settings: Lab configuration saves to the app automatically and can also be exported as a JSON file and reloaded on another device or session.

Beta testers and active supporters with an auto-renewing subscription can access Lab Mode now. It will continue to gain features as development progresses.

Live speeds in your notification, a proper dual-stack network test, VoLTE readings you can trust, Wi-Fi reports you can share, and Mast Names that now know as much about your towers as you do.
