Network Diagnostics & Performance
The Diagnostics screen is your application’s command center for verifying real-time network health, speed, and reliability. This suite of professional tests goes beyond mere connectivity checks to provide a detailed, scored analysis of both your Wi-Fi and Cellular connections.
Overall Network Quality Score
After running the diagnostic tests, CellInfo provides an Overall Network Quality Score (e.g., 89/100), giving you an immediate, objective rating of your current connection performance.
This score is derived from synthesizing the results across speed, latency, and stability tests, providing a clear benchmark for optimizing your connectivity.
The results also include key identification details like the Test Date, Connection Type (e.g., Wi-Fi 7), and local IP Address.
Comprehensive Performance Benchmarks
The Diagnostics screen executes several key tests to analyze every aspect of your network path:
- Speed Test Results: Provides precise measurements for Download Speed, Upload Speed, and connection Latency to external servers, verifying real-world throughput.
- Ping Test Results: Measures latency and Jitter (the variation in latency) to reliable public servers (like 1.1.1.1), which is crucial for determining the stability needed for gaming and video conferencing.
- DNS Resolution Test: Confirms how quickly and accurately your device can translate domain names (like google.com) into IP addresses, a core indicator of browsing responsiveness.
- Port Test Results: Allows users to verify if specific network ports (e.g., port 80 for HTTP) are Open or Closed on target servers, complete with response times (e.g., Open (15 ms)).
Deep Network Details and Background Monitoring
This screen provides full details on your currently active WiFi Details (including WiFi Standard, Frequency, Channel, and Security type like SAE (WPA3)) and your Cellular Network (Background) status.
Critically, it provides an estimate of performance if you were to switch to cellular, displaying Estimated Download/Upload speeds and a Network Rating even while on Wi-Fi, allowing for proactive network management. Final stability is scored in the Network Statistics section, highlighting Packet Loss, Consistency, and Avg Latency.
