๐Ÿงช 5G Labs โ€” Advanced 5G SA Tools

By the CellInfo Dev Team Updated 26th May 2026

The 5G Labs is CellInfo’s dedicated workspace for 5G Standalone (SA) analysis. Whether you’re drive testing, verifying coverage, or validating network slicing performance, the 5G Labs brings together three powerful tools in one place.

What’s Inside the 5G Labs?

๐Ÿ“ก 5G SA Events โ€” Sector Logging & Signal Mapping

Automatically log every 5G SA sector you connect to while CellInfo is running. Each sector records your strongest, weakest, and most recent signal โ€” along with GPS coordinates, band, and timing information.

What you can do:

  • Automatic background logging โ€” just keep CellInfo open as you move around
  • Store up to 500 unique sectors in a dedicated high-performance database
  • View signal locations on a map โ€” see exactly where you got the best and worst signal from each tower
  • Complete sector identity โ€” MCC, MNC, Band, NCI, PCI, and TAC for every event
  • Export & Import โ€” save your data as JSON for backup, sharing, or external analysis
  • Export map to gallery โ€” save the signal map as a PNG image for coverage reports

๐Ÿ”ข NR Cell ID Format Tool โ€” Base Station Identification

The 36-bit NR Cell Identity (NCI) must be split into a gNB ID (tower) and Cell ID (sector) โ€” but the split varies by operator. This tool handles it automatically for 50+ carriers worldwide.

What you can do:

  • Auto-detection โ€” identifies your carrier and applies the correct bit-split
  • Manual override โ€” set custom bit-splits (20โ€“32 bits) for private networks
  • Live calculator โ€” paste any NCI value to see the gNB ID and Cell ID breakdown instantly
  • 50+ carriers pre-configured โ€” UK, US, Germany, France, Australia, India, Japan, and more

๐Ÿƒ 5G SliceRunner โ€” Network Slicing Performance

Network Slicing allows a single 5G SA network to provide multiple virtual “pipes” with different performance characteristics. SliceRunner measures the real-world difference between your standard connection and a URLLC (Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency) slice.

What you can do:

  • URLLC detection โ€” automatically identifies if your carrier provides a prioritised low-latency slice
  • Side-by-side comparison โ€” simultaneously measures latency on the default slice vs. the URLLC slice
  • Real-time graphs โ€” live performance monitoring showing ping, jitter, and success rates
  • Empirical proof โ€” validate that a “low-latency” slice genuinely outperforms the standard 5G pipe

Getting Started

The 5G Labs is available to all CellInfo users. 5G SA features require:

  • A device with 5G Standalone hardware (most 2022+ flagships)
  • A carrier with an active 5G SA deployment
  • Android 12 or later (recommended for full NR API access)
  • CellInfo V0.12.09.000 or later

Set 5G Labs as Your Startup Tab

If you use these tools frequently, you can open directly to the 5G Labs every time:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Startup Tab
  3. Choose 5G Labs

The 5G Labs is continuously evolving โ€” more tools and capabilities are planned for future releases.
