Release Notes: V0.12.10.040

By the CellInfo Dev Team | Published: 24th March 2026

Summary

This release focuses on improving UI stability and data persistence in patchy signal areas, ensuring the Dash View remains accurate even during network handovers. It also introduces standardised PCI sector indexing, enhanced radio channel diagnostics, and several reliability improvements for edge-case network scenarios.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ IMPROVED: UI & Signal Display

Several enhancements to keep the app accurate and consistent in challenging signal conditions.

  • More stable display in weak signal areas: Reduced occurrences of the “Searching…” screen appearing despite a valid tower connection at low signal levels (e.g., -115 to -125 dBm). Data fields (Cell ID, Band, MCC-MNC) now remain locked on screen more reliably during network scans and handovers.
  • Standardised PCI sector display: Unified the Physical Cell ID sector index across the entire app. All screens (Dash, Map, Cell Info, Logs) now follow the industry-standard 1-based index:ย (PCI % 3) + 1, ensuring consistent sector numbering (1, 2, 3) wherever you look.

๐Ÿ“ถ IMPROVED: Network Detection

Refined how CellInfo identifies network types in complex multi-SIM and private network environments.

  • Smarter 5G detection on private networks: CellInfo now more precisely distinguishes between public and private network cells when determining 5G status. In setups where a private LTE base station is used alongside a public 5G SIM, the network type indicator is now evaluated per-cell rather than per-SIM โ€” giving you a more accurate picture of what each cell is actually doing.

๐Ÿ“ฑ IMPROVED: App Navigation

Better reliability when returning to the app from the notification bar.

  • More reliable notification resume: In some situations, tapping the persistent CellInfo notification could cause the app to fully reload rather than resume where you left off. This was most likely when Android had reclaimed memory while the background service was still running. The notification now more consistently brings the existing app to the foreground.

๐Ÿš€ IMPROVED: Dash View

The Simple Dash View gains new diagnostic fields and a cleaner layout.

  • Radio channel identifier: Added a technology-specific channel field โ€” ARFCN (2G), UARFCN (3G), EARFCN (4G), or NR-ARFCN (5G) โ€” for quick frequency identification at a glance.
  • TAC/LAC layout: Reorganised the tracking area code display for improved readability when driving or field testing.

๐ŸŒ IMPROVED: Roaming & Carrier Identity

Smarter SIM-to-tower matching for international and multi-SIM scenarios.

  • Roaming carrier resolution: Enhanced the SIM-to-tower matching logic so the serving network is correctly identified even when the home SIM’s network differs from the camped cell. Includes a resilient fallback that evaluates candidate cells when the OS transiently drops the “Registered” flag during a scan.

Thanks to users who shared signal logs from weak coverage areas โ€” your feedback continues to shape these improvements.Technically Optimized Sectoring: Standardized on engineering alpha/beta/gamma mapping to provide consistent diagnostic reporting across both LTE and 5G NR layers.
